The Struggles of Dad Life

It’s true- parenting is a struggle. As the famous song by Maroon 5 goes, “It’s not always rainbows and butterflies, it’s compromise that moves us along.” It’s the truth. Sometimes compromise, a few tears and curse words are all that can get you through the day.

Parenting can be hard- in fact, it can be one of the absolute hardest things you do in your life, especially if you want to do it well. You see- you don’t get a break from being a parent. As that commercial for a cold medicine depicts, you can’t just call into your child one day and say you need the day off, like you can with work.

“Parenting is a choice you make every day to put someone else’s happiness and well-being ahead of your own, to teach the hard lessons, to do the right thing even when you’re not sure what the right thing is and to forgive yourself over and over again, for doing everything wrong.” –Donna Ball

As a dad, some of our struggles are similar to a mom’s struggle, but many of the struggles are different. Watch our video below to find out the struggles of dad life. We will cover the following things:

-Balancing time

-Traveling away from family

-Making the most of the time you have with your kids/family

-The challenge of completing the every day little things with kids

-Setting a routine and what happens if you don’t!

-Dealing with a screaming child

-Dealing with significant others, especially after giving birth to a child-AKA Hormones!

-Daycare expenses

-Feeling like you aren't doing a good enough job as a parent/father
